Ilya Cech at Artek: a lecture for future engineers and a new step for astronomy

During the engineering shift "Technodynamics-Technoleaders", which took place at the Artek Business Center, participants met with Ilya Chekhov, a well—known Russian engineer and entrepreneur, founder of the Motorika company and the Frontiers of Science Scientific and Technological Guild. During the event, the speaker shared plans for the development of space research activities, and also informed about practical steps — equipping the observatory.
Unlike traditional lectures, the format of the meeting involved an open dialogue. Ilya Cech told the audience about his own entrepreneurial trajectory: from creating the first robotic device to building a company that has become one of the leaders in the bionic prosthetics market. Today, the focus of the entrepreneur's attention has shifted towards high-tech space projects.
The Frontiers of Science Guild, founded by the Czech, is currently developing bioreactors for lunar bases and laser systems for detecting gravitational waves. According to experts, these projects open up new opportunities for private investment in basic science.
The purpose of the trip was also to deliver modern equipment for one of the oldest observatories on the peninsula. The installation of new instruments will improve conditions for observing space phenomena and increase the accuracy of data collection, including in the framework of joint research to search for gravitational waves.
"Space is no longer the domain of exclusively state-owned corporations. This is a new entrepreneurial niche where engineering courage and the ability to calculate risks are in demand. Our trip to Crimea is an example of how a private initiative can strengthen the scientific infrastructure in a short time," commented Ilya Cech.
The shift participants showed a high interest in technology commercialization. Among the most frequent queries are: sources of financing for startups, risk management, and the psychology of overcoming setbacks. In response, Ilya Cech noted that it took him several years to form a sustainable business in the field of high technology , and the key factor was the ability not to be afraid to review the strategy ("change shoes," as he put it) with a paradigm shift.
The organizers of the engineering shift emphasize that such meetings are part of a program to train the personnel reserve for the domestic high-tech industry. The knowledge gained at the Artek site is intended to become the basis for future startups in the aerospace field.
